Musical Theatre

Fordham High School for the Arts’ Musical Theatre program produces mature, talented, energetic, and creative performers. If you have your sights set on performing in musical theatre, FHSA will prepare you for the spotlight. The Musical Theatre program is an intensive course of study and performance, focused on providing you with the knowledge, experience, and professional exposure you need to build a successful career on stage or in college.

Working with our Musical Theatre teacher, Mr. Subsara, you will develop and sharpen your  singing, acting, and dancing skills. You will explore the theories of the craft and learn firsthand how to put those theories into practice. And you won’t have to wait in line for stage time. Beginning your first semester, you will find abundant opportunities to sharpen your skills in stage productions (plays and musicals), concerts, revues, and recitals in our newly renovated state-of-the art Broadway style auditorium.

FHSA’s Musical Theatre program is a part of Fordham’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Drama Program – the only CTE Drama program that exists in New York State! Long before you graduate, you will make valuable contacts in professional musical theatre by participating in masterclasses, auditions, conventions, competitions, and workshops. Because Musical Theatre is part of a CTE program, Musical Theatre majors are also eligible for Work Based Learning (WBL) opportunities which provide paid, professional internships for eligible juniors and seniors. Partnerships include: Roundabout Theatre Company, New York Theatre Workshop, Lincoln Center, Arthur Miller Foundation, The Shubert Foundation’s High School Theatre Festival, Stephanie Klapper Casting, Broadway Bound Kids, CAT Shakespeare Festival, Bloomberg Arts & Culture, International Thespian Society, Broadway Bridges, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Broadway League Diversity Management Initiative, CTE Industry Scholars Program, Vital Theatre, SteelDeck, and Symphony Space.
